What is Lumecca IPL skin pigmentation removal and how does it work?
Lumecca is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. After just one use, patients notice significant improvements in the complexion and clarity of the skin. The Lumecca IPL laser uses photo-thermolysis through the delivery of specific wavelengths of light which interact with red and brown pigments in the skin. These pigments absorb the light and are destroyed, often in one session without affecting or damaging surrounding tissue. β
During your Lumecca treatment there will be a bright flash of light and a slight prickly sensation. Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal and usually subside within an hour. Due to the light intensity of the treatment, it is recommended that direct sunlight and tanning are avoided for 2 weeks after treatment.
A course of three treatments is recommended, but patients notice improvements after just one session of Lumecca.

Sun damage and skin complexion results can be seen a few days after the first session. The pigmented areas on the skin initially looked darker but after a few days this flakes off revealing glowing, clear skin. The most visible results after 1-2 weeks.
Having multiple sessions will improve the final result. For vascular treatments such as facial telangiectasias (spider veins), results can be seen in up to 2 weeks.
