Stretchmarks are a common problem faced by both men and women. They are often caused by weight loss/ gain or following pregnancy and can be unsightly and be visible as red or white scar-like lines on the body.
We offer either micro-needling or Plexr plasma therapy, two excellent treatments that visibly reduce the appearance of stretch marks.
What are Micro-Needling and Plexr treatments and how do they work?
We use the latest collagen P.I.N™ micro-needling device which is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of stretch marks. Collagen P.I.N™ micro-needling utilises the same technology as the well known Dermapen™ but has three times more needles, giving optimum results for stretch mark reduction.
During the microneedling procedure, tiny needles are used to create con trolled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin and reduce the appearance of stretch marks.
The Plexr treatment works differently and uses a plasma beam to Zap the skin around the stretch mark using a controlled mini-burn to visibly reduce the appearance.
What will happen during the Stretch Mark Reduction procedure?
Prior to the micro-needling or Plexr treatment, your medical practitioner will apply a topical numbing cream to the skin. This is usually left for 20-30 minutes to make the procedure comfortable.
During microneedling, we apply a thin layer of growth factor serum to your skin and gently glide the microneedling pen across the skin until the entire treatment area has been covered. This results in collagen simulation and promotes the breakdown of the stretch mark scar, improving the appearance in just one session.
During Plexr, the probe will be passed along the skin around the stretchmark to created controlled slight burns (otherwise known as sublimation). Surgical tape will then be applied around the treated area to keep the skin in place to allow healing and the stretch mark scar to shrink.
What happens after Stretch Mark Reduction treatment?
Skin will look slightly pink to moderately red (similar appearance to mild sunburn) after treatment but this should settle within a few hours. You will experience scabbing following Plexr. Which will improve over a 7 days period. You will notice a significant improvement in the appearance of stretch marks from the first treatment but a course of up to 3 treatments may be recommended depending on the extent and severity of the stretch marks.
